The Moonlit Zones App
Ten original instruments reading the real sky — your birth chart, the lunar calendar, eclipse tracking, planetary transits and more — all computed live and personalised to you. Available in your browser now, and coming to the App Store and Google Play.
What you get
- Real positions, computed live
- Every planetary position is calculated to the arc-minute from professional-grade astronomical tables. The data is real and it updates in real time — nothing is pre-written.
- Personalised to your chart
- Add your birthdate and time, the location of your birth, and if you choose, your current location. All ten instruments then read from your chart.
- Your data stays on your device
- Your birth details are stored locally on your own device. We do not store your personal information on our servers.
The ten instruments
Each instrument offers a different view of the sky — timing, meaning, and personal detail. All ten are included with every subscription.
- 01. Birth Chart + Location
- Your personal chart, drawn from the real sky. Add your birthdate and time, the location of your birth, and — if you choose — your current location. The app draws your natal chart to the arc-minute: every planet, every house, the angles and aspects that belong to you. Save it once and all ten instruments read from it. Your details are stored on your device, not on our servers. You can update your location any time you move.
- 02. The Calendar Wheel
- Every day of the month, with the Moon's real sign and phase. A full lunar calendar showing which sign the Moon is in, what phase she is wearing, and when she changes. Tap any day to see its detail. Plan your week with the Moon's actual rhythm rather than guessing at it. With your chart saved, each day also shows which house the Moon is lighting for you personally.
- 03. Sabian Symbols
- A symbolic image for every degree of the zodiac. Each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac carries its own image — a hummingbird, an unopened letter, a woman watering flowers. The app looks up the degree of any planet or point and shows you its symbol instantly. Includes the classic 1925 readings and, soon, original hand-drawn sigils. Use it to explore any placement in your chart, or look up today's Moon degree for a daily reflection.
- 04. Void-of-Course Moon
- Know exactly when the Moon is between signs. Several times a week the Moon finishes her last aspect in one sign before entering the next. These windows — sometimes minutes, sometimes most of a day — are traditionally better for finishing and resting than for starting something new. The app shows you every void window to the exact minute. Check the week ahead and schedule your important beginnings for when the Moon has settled into her next sign.
- 05. Eclipse Tracking
- See where each eclipse falls — and whether it touches your chart. When eclipse season arrives, the app shows you both eclipses: the degree each one falls on, and the ancient family (Saros series) it belongs to. With your chart saved, it tells you plainly whether the eclipse makes a close contact with any of your placements, and which house it activates. If an eclipse doesn't contact your chart, the app tells you that too — no invented drama.
- 06. Lunar Phase Families
- Follow a lunar cycle from its New Moon to its close, across years. A New Moon in a sign plants a seed; over the following months, the same sign hosts its First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter. These four phases form a family — one arc that plays out over roughly two years. The app traces these families forward and backward across a century of sky. Find the family connected to a time in your life, and see which phase you are in now.
- 07. Transit Arc
- The long planetary passage you are living through right now. The outer planets — Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto — move slowly, sometimes spending years crossing a single area of your chart. The Transit Arc shows you the one that matters most: where it began, when it peaks, and where you stand in it today. With your chart saved, it shows the exact house and degree it is activating. Use it to understand a difficult stretch or a period of growth that has been unfolding for months.
- 08. Progressions
- Your birth chart as it has evolved alongside you. Progressions use an old astrological method: each day after your birth represents one year of your life. Over time, your progressed Moon changes sign, your Sun moves forward, and the chart matures with you. The app calculates your progressed chart and your Solar Return — the exact moment the Sun returns to its birth position each year. Best used around birthdays and turning points. This instrument requires your birth details to work.
- 09. The Mandala Palace
- Everything happening in the sky, gathered into one visual space. A contemplative view of the whole sky, arranged as a palace with chambers. Each chamber represents a different kind of event — a coming full moon, a retrograde, a solstice, an eclipse. As an event approaches, its chamber glows. Tap into it to read what is near, then clear the view when you are ready to move on. With your chart saved, the palace also shows transits personal to you, highlighted in green.
- 10. The Eclipse Tablet
- Eclipse families traced across centuries. Every eclipse belongs to an ancient series (called a Saros) that is born, matures and dies out over hundreds of years. The Tablet shows the full lineage of each eclipse season — the one that came before, and the one that will follow — so you can see patterns across time rather than reacting to a single event. For when you want the broadest perspective on an eclipse season.
